Badass Bourbon Cocktails to Show Off for Your Friends
Badass Bourbon Cocktails to Show Off for Your Friends

Anyone can make a run-of-the-mill cocktail. While there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics, true Rebels know that going against the grain is usually worth the risk — especially when creating delicious libations. When you’re in the mood to whip up a few badass concoctions, Rebel 100 Bourbon will help you let your free spirit shine.

From cocktails that involve a little friendly fire (literally) to drinks you can tell break the mold just by looking at them, we’ve rounded up the best badass bourbon cocktails you can make to show off for your friends.

Hell-Raiser Old Fashioned

If you think a regular old-fashioned sounds like old news, this fiery variation is the perfect way to spice things up. Of course, you need a bourbon that can hold its own against the fire. We suggest Rebel 100 Bourbon. This variation is so badass that you may never want to drink an old fashioned that doesn’t include flames again.

Ingredients

2 oz Rebel 100 Bourbon

¼ oz simple syrup

Angostura bitters

Orange peel

A lighter and a rebellious spirit

Instructions

Combine the Rebel 100 Bourbon, simple syrup, and a few dashes of bitters in the bottom of a rocks glass. Add ice and stir. Warm the outside of the orange peel with the flame of the lighter for 10-15 seconds. Then, hold the lighter over the glass and squeeze the orange peel over the flame to release the citrus oils.

You should also be safe because, you know…fire.

Blue Rebel Sour

Whiskey sours don’t have to be boring. Drinkers won’t know what to expect from this vibrant blue libation, but they’ll quickly realize that being a Rebel can be downright delicious. Since Rebel 100 Bourbon serves as this drink’s base, only your most hell-raising friends can drink more than a few of these.

Ingredients

2 oz Rebel 100 Bourbon

½ oz Blue Curacao

½ oz simple syrup

1 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice

Lemon wedge for garnish

Instructions

Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake for 12-15 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Lemonade Gone Wild

Lemonade doesn’t have to be innocent and sweet. Adding jalapenos and Rebel 100 Bourbon makes this drink far from what you’d find at your local lemonade stand. Want to make it spicier? Try using Rebel 100 Rye instead.

Ingredients

2 oz Rebel 100 Bourbon or Rebel 100 Rye

Sliced jalapenos

Lemonade (preferably homemade)

Chili lime seasoning (like Tajin)

Lemon wedge

Instructions

Run a lemon wedge around the rim of a highball glass and then coat in chili lime seasoning. Muddle as many jalapenos as you’d like in the bottom of the glass, and then add the Rebel 100 Bourbon or Rebel 100 Rye. Add ice and top with lemonade. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Sazerac Gone Bananas

There’s nothing wrong with a simple Sazerac, but Rebels know there’s nothing wrong with breaking tradition. Adding banana liqueur adds an unexpected twist that makes this drink (you guessed it) bananas.

Ingredients

1 oz Rebel 100 Rye

1 oz Cognac

½ oz banana liqueur

¼ oz simple syrup

Absinthe for rinsing

Lemon peel for garnish

Instructions

Add a dash of absinthe to a rocks glass and swirl to coat the inside. Dump out the absinthe and set the glass aside. In a mixing glass, add the remaining ingredients and stir with ice. Strain the cocktail into the glass, express a lemon peel over the glass, and garnish with the twist.

Rebel (Rye)sying Sour

This drink takes its name from the red wine float that looks like it’s rising (or, in this case, Ryesing) to the top of the glass. Adding the final touch of color over the back of a bar spoon will make you look like a badass cocktail-making pro to your friends.

Ingredients

2 oz Rebel 100 Rye

1 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice

½ oz simple syrup

1 oz red wine

Lemon wedge for garnish

Instructions

Add the Rebel 100 Rye, lemon juice, simple syrup, and ice to a cocktail shaker and shake for 12-15 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice, leaving some room at the top. Slowly pour the red wine down a bar spoon to create a float on top of the beverage. Garnish with a lemon peel.
