We don’t ask why the sky is blue or why we like what we like. One’s love for the greatness that is Rebel Yell whiskeys requires no explanation, no justification. It just is.
On the other hand, when it comes to whiskey, we like to know what’s going on in the world around us. We like getting a sense of the big picture — and why everyone around us is coming along for the ride.
To that end, we bring you some of the trends that are making whiskey so very, very hot.
Whiskey Goes Flavorful
One major reason whiskey has captured the imagination of connoisseurs: Distillers like Rebel Yell are experimenting with their craft by adding flavors and reviving classic old grains. Rebel Yell was on the cusp in 2016, with its introduction of two highly creative flavors, Rebel Yell Ginger Whiskey and Rebel Yell Root Beer Whiskey.
Although nothing beats the purity and perfection of a wheated whiskey such as the original Rebel Yell Straight Bourbon Whiskey, distillers have expanded their scope with the use of grains like rye. The adage that everything old is new again fits to a T for rye, which overnight went from nearly extinct to the “it” spirit. Mixologists resurrecting classic old recipes needed the spicy flavor profile of a whiskey like Rebel Yell Straight Rye Whiskey to make their drinks authentic and complete.
Whiskey Goes Big
Beer is crafty, wine is fine, but whiskey is where it’s at these days. Kentucky bourbon in particular has been killing it, celebrating one banner year after another.
According to the Kentucky Distillers Association, bourbon distilleries are breaking records dating back to 1967: Millions of oak casks filled with bourbon are being aged ever so gently this very minute. In 2016, more than a dozen new distilleries were born. Our Lux Row Distillers is currently under construction, slated for a spring 2018 opening. Yes! Help is on the way.
Industry folks credit the millennials, that consumer juggernaut, who are said to be constantly on the hunt for authentic experiences. To authenticity! Let’s all raise a glass of Rebel Yell 10-year Single Barrel.
